We are non-accredited giving WYPA the freedom to create non-traditional options for participants. Our guest instructors come to us with professionally researched, breakthrough, and non-traditional approaches especially in our performance classes where we encourage experimentation.
What if I’m a beginner in my art or further along in my career?
We’re glad you found WYPA wherever you are in your creative journey. We are excited to support you in your process. On a practical level the variety of courses are designed to challenge participants from exactly where they are in your process.

What is Artivism?
The portmanteau “artivism” was first coined in 1997 in reference to the gathering of Chicano artists and the Zapatistas in Mexico. The Chicano art movement focused on the work of Mexican American artists who aimed to establish a strong artistic identity, influenced by the Chicano Movement in the 1960s.- Wikipedia.
I don’t think of myself as a performer or artist, and I’m terrified of speaking in front of people. Would I fit in?
Yes. Many come to us to build skills supporting them in their professional careers or for personal growth. You’ll grow in ways that will surprise you or a “self” you knew was waiting for the right environment to find your wings.
